The islands Sandsøya and Voksa are located at the mouth of the fjords on Sunnmøre, at the west coast of Norway, just north of Cape Stadlandet. Port Sandshamn at Sandsøya was in the past a trading place of great significance. In the 1960s the population of Sandsøya was above 500. Today this number is reduced with 50 percent.
